Monday, July 14 2004, in Auditorium Room, Unikom held an event of Training of Research Methodology and Paper Writing. This event, organized by LPPM UNIKOM, is aimed to improve the lecturers’ knowledge regarding research methodology and paper writing as well so that they can actively participate in conducting researches that lead to solve particular problem. The terms problem solving itself consists of 2 points, the researcher can fill the gap of the missing theory in particular phenomenon and figure out the correct fact about phenomenon.
This five hour event was officially opened by The Rector of UNIKOM and was attended by Vice Rector 1, Vice Rector II, and members of Science and Technology Foundation as well. This training consisted of two sessions. In the first session, with the theme “Peranan Penelitian dalam Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan”, Prof. Dr. Sucherly, S.E., M.Si., as one of the lecturers of UNPAD, stated that the existed theories do not always applicable in a research. Therefore, as an educator, lecturers are expected to be able to compare various theories in order to find out the appropriate theory for the research being conducted. The one who is able to make this comparison is the last researcher so that the result will be up to date. The terms researcher itself is the educators/lecturers.
Many of educators in Indonesia think that research can only be conducted during the spare time. Whereas, their busy causes no spare to produce a research paper and to contribute any research for the educational field. The above assumption is not always true since students may also play an important role in making a research, a lecturer can find new phenomena with the students.
In the second session, with the theme “Metodologi Penelitian”, Dr. S. Batanghari Lubis, MT explained that science is a hardly defined concept through the obvious borders. That is why, the theory needs to exist to guide the research being conducted, to sum up the phenomena/facts systematically, and to predict the facts itself.
Science is a result of empirically thinking process, whereas thinking is the nature of man. For the nature itself science grows. According Mr. Hari, basically human think of the existence of problems, various nature phenomena affecting human’s life. Observing and dealing the various effects of the phenomena have emerged several questions that are crucial. Through the systematic frame of theory, the hypothesis exists.In his training about research methodology, Mr. Hari explained that there are many theories applicable for the lecturers to ground their research.
In this training, the committee provided lunch both for the participants and the speakers in the break time. The Rector and The Chairman of LPPM UNIKOM handed souvenirs for the speakers. |
